Hakipu‘u Learning Center – Green Machine: February 18, 2016
The science class of Ms. Ashley Weber from the Hakipu‘u Learning Center (Kāneʻohe, O‘ahu) have an interest in the dynamics of water quality and how it impacts the environment. The class was treated to an introduction, lesson, and observation as to the construction, purpose, and function of the Green Machine by Mr. Chad Durkin. The Green Machine emulates a natural wetland in that it recycles waste water. The machine itself incorporates Native Hawaiian plants and their biology as the mechanism in cleaning water.
