Kanu I Ka Pono : March 31 – April 4

The highlights of our delivery in Anahola, Kauaʻi included kite making to fly on our field day and the star compasses the groups used in the way finding activity.

This week’s field day was held at Waipā. Our captain for the day was Trevor Cabell who took the students sailing around Hanalei Bay on his wa‘a. While groups were on the wa‘a, the others were busy making their wa‘a to float pennies in our New Island activity.

The Kanu I Ka Pono students did a great job creating their star compasses. After making them, they used them in the way finding activity using models of the wa‘a to find directions and locate stars and the Sun in the different houses throughout the year.
