Natural Farming at Mountain View Farm

During Fall 2020, Mālama ʻĀina Foundation toured Mountain View Farm on the Waiʻanae coast of Oʻahu to learn about natural farming from Farmer David Wong.

Natural farming is a type of farming that does not utilize any additives such as pesticides or herbicides. At Mountain View, Farmer David and his team mālama (care for) the plants by maintaining the balance of natural microbes in the soil, creating the perfect environment for crops to flourish without chemical interventions.

Pigs are also raised at Mountain View Farm. The pigs are fed an all-natural, plant-based diet of crops grown on the farm, which keeps them happy and healthy using no processed feed.
