'Ike Kai Summer Program - Wai'anae - June 2019

The Mahope program hosted a week-long summer program for Kamaile students.  During this program, students learned about ocean safety and awareness, first-aid, hands-only CPR, and ocean conservation.  Students also participated in a field trip to Waikīkī Aquarium, where they learned about different ocean ecosystems and native marines species around O‘ahu.  They also toured Washington Place where they learned about the history of Lili‘uokalani’s residence and helped to make lei lā‘ī and ho‘okupu for Kamehameha Day.  During the program, two students learned to float swim for the first time.
